Description
An active sourdough starter is the heart of homemade sourdough bread. When properly fed and maintained, it becomes bubbly, slightly tangy, and powerful enough to naturally leaven bread without commercial yeast.
Ingredients
• ½ cup sourdough starter
• ½ cup flour
• ¼–½ cup water
Instructions
- Discard half of the starter.
- Add flour and water.
- Stir until smooth.
- Let sit 4–12 hours at room temperature.
- Use when bubbly and doubled.
