Description
A classic and creamy chickpea dip, perfect for dipping, spreading, or enjoying on its own.
Ingredients

- 2 cans (15 ounces each) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup tahini
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for serving
- 1/4 cup cold water, or more as needed
- Salt to taste
- Optional garnishes: paprika, chopped parsley, extra chickpeas
Instructions
- Combine drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a food processor.
- Process until mostly smooth.
- With the food processor running, gradually add the cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches a creamy and smooth consistency.
- Season with salt to taste and process for another 30 seconds.
- Transfer hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil and garnish with paprika, parsley, or extra chickpeas if desired.
Notes
- For a smoother hummus, you can peel the chickpeas before processing.
- Adjust the lemon juice and garlic to your personal preference.
- If you don’t have tahini, you can substitute with sunflower seed butter, but the flavor will be different.
