Description
A classic and flavorful shrimp scampi recipe that’s quick to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup dry white wine (like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Cooked pasta or crusty bread, for serving
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
- Pour in the white wine and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer and cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly.
- Stir in the fresh parsley.
- Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately over cooked pasta or with crusty bread for dipping.
Notes
- For a richer sauce, you can add a splash of heavy cream.
- If you don’t have white wine, you can substitute with chicken broth or more lemon juice.
- Adjust the amount of garlic and red pepper flakes to your preference.
